Rudno nad Hronom (until 1927 Slovak "Hronské Rudno"; German Rudain , Hungarian Garamrudnó - until 1907 RUDNO ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 548 inhabitants (31 of December 2019), which for Okres Žarnovica , a circle of kraj Banskobystrický belongs .
geography
The municipality is located in the valley of the Hron (German Gran ) at the confluence with the Rudniansky creek , between the mountains Štiavnické vrchy in the east and Pohronský Inovec in the west. The center of the village is about six kilometers east of Nová Baňa .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1283 as Ruda ; Other sources speak of as early as 1147. True to its name, the history of the place was shaped by mining: up to the 19th century ore was extracted in the nearby mine. In the period from 1871 to 1922, a glazier was active instead of the mine.
