history
Malá Lehota was first mentioned in writing in 1388 as Kys Lyhota , as part of the territory of the Hrušov Castle . The settlements emerged in a forest clearing in a wave of colonization in the 14th century . The difficult to access community was named Pwszta Lehota in 1468 and had three portals in 1536 . In 1554 Malá Lehota became the property of the Kistapolcsányi family , who in the same year acquired the territory of the Hrušov Castle. In the time of the Turkish wars and uprisings against the Habsburgs, the area was only sparsely populated: in 1601 the community had only nine houses. Many residents hid in the surrounding forests to avoid the Ottoman troops and the exploitation of landlords. In 1715 the village had 17 taxpayers, two mills and a restaurant, in 1828 there were 102 houses and 641 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were forestry and agriculture. The first, then Roman Catholic school, was founded in 1856.
Until 1918, the place in Persch County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
