Píla (until 1927 Slovak "Tekovská Píla"; German Paulisch or Polisch , Hungarian Dóczyfürésze - until 1892 Pila ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 129 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Žarnovica , a district of Banskobystrický kraj , heard.
geography
The village is located between the Pohronský Inovec and Vtáčnik mountains , in the valley of the Pílanský brook . The town center is located at an altitude of 384 m nm and is ten kilometers from Žarnovica .
Neighboring municipalities are Horná Ves and Ostrý Grúň in the north, Župkov in the east, Horné Hámre in the southeast, Nová Baňa and Malá Lehota in the south and Veľké Pole in the west.
history
The present place originated in the 15th century and was mentioned for the first time in 1534 as Bolyarpecl , two years later as Fyurez . At that time the village had four portals and was in the territory of the Revište Castle .
In 1715 the village had 61 taxpayers, 42 craftsmen, three mills, a restaurant and a butcher's shop. In 1828 there were 209 houses and 1,460 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were forestry and agriculture, and they were also employed as seasonal workers.
Until 1918, the place in Persch County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Until the end of the Second World War , Píla was a predominantly German village, in 1944 the Germans made up 92 percent of the population . After their expulsion, the village was repopulated by Slovaks from the surrounding villages.
The place name "Píla" literally means saw , here in the sense of a sawmill .

According to the 2011 census, there were 144 inhabitants in Píla, including 125 Slovaks and 1 Magyar . 18 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
105 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and 1 inhabitant the Baptists; 1 resident indicated another denomination. 17 residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for 20 residents.
