Host ( Hungarian Keresztúr ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,205 (December 31, 2019) that the circle Okres Zlaté Moravce , part of Nitriansky kraj , heard, and in the traditional landscape Tekov lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the northeastern foothills of the Žitavská pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ) on the slopes of the Tribetz Mountains in the north and the Pohronský Inovec Mountains in the east. The Hostiansky potok stream flows through the Host, which flows into the Žitava behind Zlaté Moravce . The center of the village is at an altitude of 248 m nm and is nine kilometers from Zlaté Moravce .
Neighboring municipalities are Skýcov in the north, Jedľové Kostoľany in the northeast, Obyce in the southeast, Machulince in the south and Topoľčianky in the southwest and west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1332 as Ecclesia Sancte Crusis ; history up to modern times is closely connected with the Hrušov castle . The village belonged to the oligarch Matthäus Csák , then the castellans of the castle and the estate of Topoľčianky. In 1424 a toll was levied here on a trade route. During the Turkish wars , the village was affected several times and had to pay tribute to the Ottoman Empire. In 1828 there were 104 houses and 715 inhabitants. In the 19th century a saw worked in the village and the inhabitants made clapboard, veneer and parquet strips.
Until 1918, the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
population
According to the 2011 census, 1170 inhabitants lived in Hostie, of which 1139 were Slovaks, ten Czechs, three Roma, and one each Magyar and Moravian; six residents belonged to a different ethnic group. Ten residents gave no information in this regard. 1,063 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Czechoslovak-Hussite Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 64 residents had no denomination and 40 residents had no denomination.
