Machulince (German Mahulintz , Hungarian Maholány ) is a town on the West -Mitte of Slovakia with a population of 1,108 (December 31, 2019) that the circle Okres Zlaté Moravce of, part kraj Nitriansky heard, and in the traditional landscape Tekov is .
geography
The municipality is located in the north-eastern part of the Žitavská pahorkatina hills , part of the larger Danube hills , at the foot of the Pohronský Inovec Mountains . It is also located on the upper Žitava , which is why the surrounding landscape is called Horné Požitavie (German for about Upper Žitava Valley). The center of the village lies at an altitude of 241 m nm and is four kilometers from Zlaté Moravce and 33 kilometers from Nitra .
Neighboring communities are Hostie in the north, Obyce in the northeast and east, Žitavany in the south and Topoľčianky in the west.
history
Machulince was first mentioned in writing as Mohala in 1275 , when Ladislaus IV transferred the place to the territory of the Persch Castle . In 1388 he came to the dominion of the Hrušov Castle , the village was also partly owned by the Benedictine monastery of Hronský Beňadik . Some names from the early modern period are Mahwlencze (1564) and Mahwlincz (1600). During the Turkish wars , Machulince had to pay tribute to the Ottomans, for example in 1564 when a tax of 3½ porta was due. In 1600 there were 15 taxed houses, a year later 21 houses and a mill. In 1643 Machulince was affected by the Ottomans. In 1720 there were 20 taxpayers living in the village, in 1828 there were 50 houses and 326 inhabitants.
Until 1918, the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Machulince had 1043 inhabitants, of which 1024 were Slovaks and 5 Czechs. 14 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.
948 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 4 residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Pentecostal movement, 2 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and 1 resident to the Bahaitum; 2 residents professed a different denomination. 45 residents had no denomination and 37 residents had no denomination.
