Hosťovce (until 1927 Slovak "Hosťovce"; German Hostowitz , Hungarian Gesztőd - until 1907 Gesztőc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 757 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the circle Okres Zlaté Moravce of, part kraj Nitriansky , heard.
geography
The village is located in the northern part of the Žitavská pahorkatina hills between the Tribeč and Pohronský Inovec mountains , on the middle reaches of the Pelúsok brook . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 220 m nm and is six kilometers from Zlaté Moravce .
Neighboring municipalities are Klátova Nová Ves in the north, Lovce and Žikava in the northeast, Topoľčianky in the east, Zlaté Moravce in the southeast, Martin nad Žitavou in the south, Sľažany in the southwest, Mankovce in the west and Zlatno in the northwest.
history
Hosťovce was first mentioned in writing in 1209 as a gesture . In the Middle Ages, the village was owned by the Hronský Beňadik Abbey , later several owners changed: in the 15th century the Labatlan family , in the 16th century the rule of Ghymes , at the end of the 17th century the estate of Goldmorawitz, and families like Keltz -Weiss , Szirányi and Klobusiczky shares in the local property . In the 16th and 17th centuries, Hosťovce had to pay a tribute to the Ottoman Empire. In 1601 there were 43 houses in the village, in 1826 there were 56 houses and 391 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and forest workers.
Until 1918, the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 749 people lived in Hosťovce, including 711 Slovaks , five Czechs , four Magyars and three residents of other ethnic origins. 26 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
660 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Reformed Church; three residents professed a different denomination. 41 residents had no denomination and 40 residents had no denomination.
