Ryan MacMurchy (born April 27, 1983 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with EHC Kloten in the Swiss League .
Career
MacMurchy began his career in the 1998/99 season in his hometown with the Regina Pat Canadians in the Junior League Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League . For the 2000/01 season he moved to the Vernon Vipers in the British Columbia Hockey League , before he was on the ice the following season for the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League . Between 2002 and 2006, the Canadian was active for the university team of the University of Wisconsin in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , which is incorporated into the NCAA .
In the 2006/07 season MacMurchy played for both the Alaska Aces in the East Coast Hockey League and for the Peoria Rivermen in the higher-class American Hockey League . In the summer of 2007, the attacker moved within the ECHL to the Stockton Thunder and completed the following two seasons there. For the 2009/10 season he moved back to the AHL to the Springfield Falcons , before he was active the year after, first for league rivals Abbotsford Heat and later again in the EHCL with the Victoria Salmon Kings .
In the summer of 2011 MacMurchy decided to move to Europe and played for a year at the Norwegian club Stavanger Oilers . Due to the good offensive performance in the Norwegian league , the right-handed shooter could recommend a move to Switzerland, for the 2012/13 season HC Red Ice from the National League B signed him. There MacMurchy confirmed the previously shown performances, so that he switched to the National League A for EHC Biel during the current season .
In June 2014, the attacker was signed by ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League , where he was number 27 in the 2014/15 season . After the runner-up at the ERC, MacMurchy did not receive a new contract in Ingolstadt and therefore moved to Adler Mannheim in June 2015 .
In July 2018, MacMurchy signed a one-year contract with EHC Kloten from the Swiss League , but missed half of the season due to an injury. During the 2019/20 season, he played a few games for the Texas Titans , an amateur team from Dallas .
