The Schlängelweg (also known as "Green Snake", Czech. Hadovka ) was a historical hiking trail through the Bohemian Central Uplands , Bohemian Switzerland and Saxon Switzerland . It was a high route mostly on the right bank of the Elbe and led from Leitmeritz to Pötzscha or Pirna . A green serpentine line served as a sign to mark the hiking trail.

history

The Schlängelweg was probably created at the suggestion of Franz Müller (1835–1900), geodesist and rector at the Czech Technical University in Prague . However, it was only opened in 1912 by the Leitmeritzer Mittelgebirgsverein in cooperation with the Aussiger Gebirgsverein, the Gebirgsverein for Bohemian Switzerland and the Gebirgsverein for Saxon Switzerland. The hiking trail has not been designated since 1945.
