The Rautenweg (Czech: Diamantka ) was a historical hiking trail from Northern Bohemia to Upper Lusatia , which led through the Daubaer Schweiz , the Bohemian Central Uplands , the Bohemian Switzerland , the Saxon Switzerland and the Lusatian Mountains . It was a high path on the right bank of the Elbe, which in its original form led from Leitmeritz to Bischofswerda . The diamond sign was used as a sign to mark the hiking trail.

The following mountain associations were involved in the design of the Rautenweg: Mountain Association for northernmost Bohemia (Schönlinde headquarters, Association Path Master Franz Wabersich), Mountain Association for Bohemian Switzerland, Mountain Association for Saxon Switzerland, Lusatia Association of Lusatian Mountain Associations, Jeschken-Iser Mountain Association, Mountain Association for Daubaer Schweiz and the Leitmeritzer Mittelgebirgsverein.

The original course of the route, traced by the Leitmeritz low mountain range association in the 1920s, led from Leitmeritz via Podviní - Ploschkowitz (Ploskovice) - Ploschkowitz Castle - Pitschkowitz (Býčkovice) - Leopoldmühle (Leopoldův Mlýn) - Neuhäusel (Jeleč) - Geltschberg (Sedlo) - Hutzke (Lhotsko) - Ober-Wessig (Horní Vysoké) - Lewin (Levín) - Petrowitz (Levínské Petrovice) - Grünwald (Zelený) - Munker (Mukařov) - Hundorfer bump or hatchet (Pohorský vrch ) - Schönau (Loučky) - Wernstadt (Verneřice) , further through the Wernstadt low mountain range directly into the Polzental (Ploučnice) near Sandau (Žandov), further via Steinschönau (Kamenický Šenov) - Bohemian Kamnitz (Česká Kamenice) - Dittersbach (Jetřichovice) - over the dance plan (Tanečnice) near Nixdorf and over the Valtenberg in the Lausitzer Bergland to Bischofswerda .

Later three routes were designated, which had their starting point in Liboch (Liběchov) on the Elbe and led through the Daubaer Schweiz (Dubské Švýcarsko) and the Daubaer Bergland (Dubská pahorkatina). After 1945 the trail was no longer designated.

Course of the three diamond paths

The individual routes were set by the Mountain Association for northernmost Bohemia around 1930. All diamond paths were marked with the lying diamond sign in different colors.
