Schlegel-Tieck Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schlegel-Tieck Prize is a British literary prize that was established in 1965 by the Society of Authors . Since then, it has been awarded once a year by a jury retrospectively for a translation from German into English published in the previous year.

The prize is named after the translators and authors August Wilhelm Schlegel and Ludwig Tieck , who translated William Shakespeare's works from English in the 19th century . As of spring 2020, the prize is worth £ 3000.
