At the XVII. At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome , 15 swimming competitions were held, eight for men and seven for women. The venue was the swimming stadium (Stadio del Nuoto) at Foro Italico. The open-air stadium without a roof was designed for 20,000 spectators.
