Sevier County is a county in the state of Utah in the United States . The county seat is Richfield , which is also the largest town in the county.

Sevier County covers an area of 4968 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Sanpete County , Emery County , Wayne County , Piute County , Millard County, and Beaver County .

Sevier County was founded in 1865. It was named after the Sevier River .

Sevier County's population was 18,842 as of the 2000 census . There were 6,081 households and 4907 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.61% White, 0.27% African American, 2.00% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, and 0.79% other races Groups; 0.99% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.55% of the population.
Of the 6,081 households, 43.00% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 70.10% were married couples living together, 7.80% were single mothers. 19.30% were not families. 17.60% are single households and 9.40% have someone living there who is 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 3.03 and the average family size was 3.44 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 34.50% of residents under 18 years of age, 10.10% between 18 and 24 years of age, 22.90% between 25 and 44 years of age, 19.70% between 45 and 64 years of age 12.90% were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 99.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 97.40 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 35,822 , and the median income for a family is $ 40,110. Males had a median income of $ 32,632 versus $ 19,228 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,180. 10.80% of the population and 8.30% of families are below the poverty line. 12.80% of these were under 18 years of age and 8.50% were 65 years of age or older.
