Sitzenhart is a village and a cadastral municipality of the market town of Sitzendorf an der Schmida in the Hollabrunn district in the western Weinviertel in Lower Austria .
geography
The cadastral community of Sitzenhart covers an area of 3.72 km², the place with lane-like extension in the northwest is about 3.5 km northeast of Sitzendorf and extends along the state road L 35 leading through the place . The village has 86 inhabitants (January 1st 2020).
At the southern exit of the town, along the L 35 wine cellars are lined up with their eaves and gable press houses or brick cellar porches, so-called “Vorkappln”. These basement buildings are initially still mixed with residential buildings. With their saddle , hip and crooked roofs, they shape the entrance to the town. The majority date from the 19th century, several also date back to the 18th century.
history
The village name is etymologically as forest ( old- and Middle High German "hard" = Mountain Forest / Forest) to suggest that - like Sitzendorf - after Count Sieghard V. its name from the Chiemgau from the family of victory Hardinger bears, who also Sicco or Sizzo called has been. Not only the origin of the name, but also the historical development largely resembles that of the main town of the municipality.
The place, whose traces of settlement can be traced back to the Neolithic due to ceramic finds , was first mentioned in 1285 and was under the rule of the Kuenringer during this time . In 1285 Leutold I. von Kuenring-Dürnstein donated a farm in Sitzenhart to the Dominican convent in Imbach (closed in 1782). Duke Albrecht I , who also sealed the foundation document, acted as a witness for this foundation .
Presumably the Kuenringers held Sitzenhart until well after 1300. Other genders are certified after them, such as the gentlemen von Dachsberg and the gentlemen von Roggendorf . Sitzenhart was an independent municipality until 1965, before it became part of the large municipality of Sitzendorf with effect from January 1, 1966.
