The Ski Jumping World Cup in Klingenthal heard since the 1985/86 season with some interruptions for Ski Jumping World Cup . It is organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The competitions were held in the former GDR on the K 102 Großer Aschbergschanze and from 2007 on the HS 140 Vogtland Arena .
history
The then SC Dynamo Klingenthal had applied to the International Ski Federation to host a World Cup competition in 1986. The first ski jumping world cup in what was then the GDR took place on January 17th, 1986 on the large Aschbergschanze. In 2007 a World Cup competition was to be held in Harrachov in the Czech Republic , but this was canceled due to bad weather. The Czech Ski Association then asked VSC Klingenthal whether they were ready to jump in as a substitute host. The International Ski Association then gave its approval for the event to be held in the new Vogtland Arena. From 2009 to 2013 this World Cup was part of the FIS Team Tour . In 2012 the World Cup had to be canceled due to the wind. The competition was rescheduled the following morning, but canceled due to the same problems with the wind. The FIS decided to go a new way. Since they are dissatisfied with the competitions in Scandinavia, the season opener from the 2013/14 to 2015/16 season took place in Klingenthal. In the 2016/17 season the competitions should take place again as part of the FIS Team Tour, after some changes in the 2016/17 Ski Jumping World Cup calendar there is no FIS Team Tour. In the 2019/20 season, the first joint World Cup for women and men took place in Klingenthal. Because of the strong wind, the women's jumping took place only in one round.
