history

It is believed that Steinbach was founded in Alberndorf in the 12th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1210. The place name refers to the stone and scree stream that flows through the place (today this stream is called Silberbach ). In 1323 Gottfried von Heideck received the Bavarian Steinbach from King Ludwig as a free lance . In 1403 Friedrich von Heideck sold his estates, which Steinbach also belonged to, to the Gumbertuss donation . In 1424 and 1433 Kunz Bühler sold land and claims in Steinbach to the monastery.

In the Thirty Years' War the four properties of the monastery were burned down, the rear mill remained undamaged and inhabited. Nothing is known about the fate of the other landlords' properties .

At the end of the 18th century, Steinbach formed a community with Alberndorf and Büchenmühle. The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach . There were 12 properties and a shepherd's house owned by the municipality in Steinbach. The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (Hofkastenamt Ansbach: 1 Gütlein, 2 empty houses , 1 mill; Stiftsamt Ansbach : 1 courtyard, 1 Halbhof, 1 mill, 2 Gütlein; Ansbacher Council , Johannispflege: 1 Söldengut ) and the Stadtvogteiamt Eschenbach of the Teutonic Order (1 Tafernwirtschaft , 1 mill). At that time there were 9 subject families (without Büchenmühle), 7 of which were Ansbachian. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Steinbach was assigned to the Eyb tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Eyb, founded in 1811 . On September 30, 1827 Steinbach was re-congregated in the newly founded rural community Alberndorf . After the Second World War, the place grew rapidly due to the many refugees who settled there. On January 1, 1972, Steinbach was incorporated into the municipality of Saxony as part of the regional reform .
