Steve Henry

Steve Henry (born October 8, 1953 in Daviess County , Kentucky ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 2003 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

In 1972, Steve Henry graduated from Owensboro Senior High School . After a subsequent medical degree at the University of Louisville and his license as a doctor, he began to work as an orthopedic surgeon. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In 1995, Henry was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky alongside Paul E. Patton . He held this office after a re-election in 1999 between 1995 and 2003. He was Deputy Governor . In 1998 he ran unsuccessfully in his party's primary election for the US Senate . Between 1996 and 2001 he was also a lecturer in medicine at the University of Louisville. In August 2000 he participated as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles . In 2007 he applied in vain for the democratic nomination for the upcoming gubernatorial elections.

Steve Henry's career has not been free from conflict with the law. He has been accused of fraud related to billing as a professor at the University of Louisville on several occasions. In 2003, Henry repaid $ 162,000 following a ruling. Later on, his campaign funding was also scrutinized in 2007. This resulted in violations of existing laws. He was sentenced to a fine of $ 500 and twelve months suspended prison sentence.
