William P. Thorne

William Pryor Thorne (born March 5, 1843 in Shelby County , Kentucky , †  May 27, 1928 in Eminence , Kentucky) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

William Thorne grew up on a farm and graduated from Eminence College . After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began working in this profession in Eminence. He served as a district attorney in Henry County for four years . Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . He was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives four times , where he introduced some bills.

In 1903 Thorne was elected lieutenant governor alongside JCW Beckham . He held this office between 1903 and 1907. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Thorne was also involved in banking. He died on May 27, 1928 in Eminence, where he was buried.
