Wilson W. Wyatt

Wilson Watkins Wyatt (born November 21, 1905 in Louisville , Kentucky , † June 11, 1996 there ) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1963 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

After studying law at the University of Louisville and his admission to the bar in 1927, Wilson Wyatt began to work in this profession. He was also the legal advisor to several media companies. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1941 and 1945 he was mayor of his hometown of Louisville. In 1944, 1948, 1952 and 1960 he took part as a delegate at the respective Democratic National Conventions . In 1948 he worked for a year for the Federal Agency for Mobilization ( Office of War Mobilization ).

In 1959, Wyatt was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, alongside Bert T. Combs . He held this office between 1959 and 1963. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1962 he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate . A year later he became a member of the state board of his party. Wilson Wyatt was also a member of several organizations and associations. He died on June 11, 1996 in Louisville, where he was also buried.
