James Greene Hardy

James Greene Hardy (born May 3, 1795 in Lunenburg County , Virginia , †  July 16, 1856 in Frankfort , Kentucky ) was an American politician . In 1855 and 1856 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

James Hardy came to Rock Spring , what is now Kentucky, where he worked as a teacher and surveyor like his father had before. After that he also worked in retail. He later embarked on a political career. He was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1827 to 1830, 1838 to 1839, 1844 to 1845, and 1847, and in 1855 . He became a member of the American Party .

In 1855 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state at the side of Charles S. Morehead . He held this office until his death on July 16, 1856. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . He was married three times and had a total of twelve children.
