Alexander Scott Bullitt

Alexander Scott Bullitt (born 1761 in Prince William County , Colony of Virginia , †  April 13, 1816 in Jefferson County , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1800 and 1804 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

Alexander Bullitt bought and ran a farm near what is now Louisville . The area was then still part of the state of Virginia. In 1784 he became a member of the local militia, in which he later rose to major. In addition, he campaigned early on for a separation of the area of ​​the future state of Kentucky from Virginia. In 1792 he was a delegate to the constituent assembly of the future state. After joining the Union, he sat in the Kentucky Senate between 1792 and 1799 .

In 1800 Bullitt was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky alongside James Garrard . He held this office between 1800 and 1804. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he worked again on his farm, which he had given the name Oxmor . He died there on April 13, 1816.
