Jerry Edwin Abramson (born September 12, 1946 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is an American politician . Between 2011 and 2014, he was Lieutenant Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

Jerry Abramson attended Seneca High School in Louisville and then studied at Indiana University in Bloomington . After a subsequent law degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and his admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. Previously, he had worked in his parents' shop ( Abramson's Market ) in Louisville for some time . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1968 he supported Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign , which ended abruptly with his assassination. Abramson was Mayor of Louisville from 1986 to 1999. From 2003 to 2011 he held the same office again. Since 2003, his area of ​​expertise had been expanded beyond the actual city of Louisville to the region ( Louisville Metro ).

In 2011, Jerry Abramson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, alongside Steve Beshear . He held this office until November 13, 2014. He was Deputy Governor . He resigned the post of lieutenant governor after being appointed director of intergovernmental affairs to President Barack Obama's staff .
