Jerry Abramson
Jerry Edwin Abramson (born September 12, 1946 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is an American politician . Between 2011 and 2014, he was Lieutenant Governor of the State of Kentucky.
Career
Jerry Abramson attended Seneca High School in Louisville and then studied at Indiana University in Bloomington . After a subsequent law degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and his admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. Previously, he had worked in his parents' shop ( Abramson's Market ) in Louisville for some time . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1968 he supported Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign , which ended abruptly with his assassination. Abramson was Mayor of Louisville from 1986 to 1999. From 2003 to 2011 he held the same office again. Since 2003, his area of expertise had been expanded beyond the actual city of Louisville to the region ( Louisville Metro ).
In 2011, Jerry Abramson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, alongside Steve Beshear . He held this office until November 13, 2014. He was Deputy Governor . He resigned the post of lieutenant governor after being appointed director of intergovernmental affairs to President Barack Obama's staff .
