Emerson Beauchamp

Emerson "Doc" Beauchamp (born June 14, 1899 in Russellville , Logan County , Kentucky , †  April 15, 1971 , ibid) was an American politician . Between 1951 and 1955 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

Nothing is known of Emerson Beauchamp's youth and schooling. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . During both the First and the Second World War he served in the United States Army . Between 1944 and 1946 he was a member of the Kentucky Senate . In 1952, 1956 and 1960 he took part as a delegate at the respective Democratic National Conventions .

1951 Beauchamp was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky on the side of Lawrence Wetherby . He held this office between 1951 and 1955. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1964 and 1968 he held the office of State Treasurer of Kentucky. He was also a member of several veterans' organizations. Emerson Beauchamp died on April 15, 1971 in his native Russellville.
