S. Thruston Ballard

Samuel Thruston Ballard (born February 11, 1855 in Louisville , Kentucky , †  January 18, 1926 in Glenview , Kentucky) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1923 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kentucky.

Career

Thruston Ballard initially worked in the milling business. Together with his brother Charles (1850–1918) he founded the Ballard & Ballard Co. , which was at times one of the largest mills in the world. In the meantime he served as its president. Politically, Ballard joined the Republican Party .

In 1919 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky at the side of Edwin P. Morrow . He held this office between 1919 and 1923. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, Thruston Ballard no longer appeared politically. He died on January 18, 1926 in Glenview, Jefferson County, and was buried in Louisville.
