Jenean M. Hampton (born May 12, 1958 in Detroit , Wayne County , Michigan ) is an American politician . She has been Lieutenant Governor of the State of Kentucky since December 8, 2015 .

Career

Hampton grew up in Detroit and graduated from high school before working in the auto industry for a few years. She was then until 1985 at Wayne State University , where she studied engineering. Between 1985 and 1992, she worked as a computer systems officer for the United States Air Force . In doing so, she reached the rank of captain. She was stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Second Gulf War . From 1993 to 2003 she worked in various functions for Packaging Corporation of America . At the same time she studied until 2003 at the University of Rochester in New York State , where she received a Master of Business Administration degree. From 2003 to 2012 she worked for International Paper in Sales ( Sales Professional ).

Politically, Ms. Hampton joined the Republican Party . She later became a member of the tea party movement that was formed in 2009 . In 2014, she ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives . A year later, Matt Bevin , the Republican nominee for the 2015 gubernatorial election, made her a candidate for lieutenant governor. On November 3, 2015, Bevin and Hampton were elected as the new governor and lieutenant governor of Kentucky, respectively. Jenean Hampton has been Vice Governor's Deputy Governor since December 8, 2015.

Hampton is married to Doyle Isaak, a former Air Force officer. The couple live in Bowling Green , Kentucky.
