Harry Lee Waterfield

Harry Lee Waterfield (born January 19, 1911 in Calloway County , Kentucky , † August 4, 1988 ) was an American Democratic politician from the state of Kentucky.

Waterfield was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1938 to 1947 and from 1950 to 1951 . During this time he was speaker from 1944 to 1946 , which corresponds to the chairman of the House of Representatives. Waterfield served twice as Lieutenant Governor in Kentucky, from 1955 to 1959 under Governor Happy Chandler and from 1963 to 1967 under Edward T. Breathitt . Three attempts to become governor yourself have already failed in the Democratic Party's primaries . In 1947 he finished second behind Earle C. Clements , in 1959 he was also second behind Bert T. Combs . On his last attempt in 1971, it was only enough for third place.
