Stinson Anderson
Stinson H. Anderson (born April 21, 1800 in Sumner County , Tennessee , † September 1857 in Jefferson County , Illinois ) was an American politician . Between 1838 and 1842 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Illinois.
Career
Nothing is known about Stinson Anderson's youth and schooling. There is also no information in the sources about his career outside of politics. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party founded by Andrew Jackson . In 1832 he was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives . At that time he also took part in the Black Hawk War as a soldier in the United States Army .
In 1838, Anderson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Illinois alongside Thomas Carlin . He held this office between December 7, 1838 and December 8, 1842. He was Deputy Governor . In 1840 he ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives . In 1850, he is listed on the Jefferson County records as a widow with several children. Stinson Anderson died in September 1857 and was buried in Mount Vernon .
