Corinne Wood

Corinne J. Wood (born May 28, 1954 in Barrington , Illinois ) is an American politician . Between 1999 and 2003, she was lieutenant governor of the state of Illinois.

Career

Corinne Gieseke, her maiden name, studied at the University of Illinois . After a subsequent law degree at Loyola University in Chicago and her admission to the bar, she began to work in this profession. She later became legal advisor to the State Commissioner for Banks and Large Enterprises. Politically, she joined the Republican Party . Before serving as Vice Governor, she served in the Illinois House of Representatives for some time .

In 1998, Wood was elected lieutenant governor of Illinois alongside George Ryan . She held this office between January 11, 1999 and January 13, 2003. She was Deputy Governor . In this office she was particularly committed to improvements in the health system, economic development and the promotion of rural areas. In 2002 she failed her party's gubernatorial election.

Corinne Wood is a member of several societies and organizations. She is married to a banker and has three children.
