The Swatzke and Skabyberge nature reserve is located in the municipality of Spreenhagen in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg .

The area with the identification number 1537 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of October 11, 1999 . The approximately 520 hectare nature reserve extends south of Hartmannsdorf , a district of Spreenhagen. The Oder-Spree Canal flows not far to the north and the Spree a little further north . The state road L 23 runs to the east and the A 12 to the south . The Triebschsee , also an NSG, extends slightly to the northwest . The Skabyer Torfgraben rises south of the Swatzke and Skabyberge , which is also part of a nature reserve in its lower reaches and then flows into the Dahme .

The NSG Swatzke and Skabyberge is part of the coherent European ecological network of special protection areas Natura 2000 . The profile of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) contains the following characterization for the 459.04 hectare FFH area under the number 3649-301:

“Extensive inland dune complex with extensive sandy heaths and dry grassland in combination with natural lichen pine forests and smaller bog areas on the edge of the former WGT military training area. Profile FFH area Swatzke and Skabyberge. "

Among the habitat types, the FFH profile lists the following plant and forest communities : transitional and swinging lawn bogs (Natura 2000 code 7140; Caricion lasiocarpae and Rhynchosporion albae ), bog forests (91D0), Central European lichen-pine forests (91T0), sandy heaths with broom Gorse on inland dunes (2310; inland dunes, old and poor in lime) and open grass areas with silver grass and ostrich grass on inland dunes (2330; Cornephorus and Agrostis ).

Animals

According to Annex II of the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive and the ordinance of the state, including their habitats that are important for reproduction, nutrition, migration and wintering, are particularly protected: among mammals, the great mouse-eared mouse ( Myotis myotis ).
