geography

Szklarka is located in the Glatzer Kessel on the edge of the Habelschwerdter Mountains . The voivodship road 388 runs through the village from Bystrzyca Kłodzka to Polanica-Zdrój . Neighboring towns are Gorzanów in the northeast, Zabłocie and Bystrzyca Kłodzka in the southeast, Stara Bystrzyca in the south, Wójtowice and Zalesie in the southwest, Huta in the west and Szczawina and Stara Łomnica in the northwest.

history

Glasendorf developed from a glassworks built in the 14th century. It was first mentioned in 1417 as Glesendorf and was owned by the Lords of Pannwitz auf Rengersdorf until 1507 . Ecclesiastically it belonged to the parish Altlomnitz. In 1628, Count Johann Arbogast von Annenberg acquired the Altlomnitzer Mittelhof together with the associated villages Glasendorf and Sauerbrunn and linked them with his dominion in Arnsdorf . By marriage in 1651 the possessions came to Count Johann Friedrich von Herberstein . He formed a majority rule from the estates , to which Glasendorf also belonged.

After the Silesian Wars , Glasendorf and the County of Glatz fell to Prussia in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was initially incorporated into the district of Glatz. In 1818 it was reorganized into the newly formed district of Habelschwerdt , to which it belonged until 1945. Since 1874 Glasendorf belonged to the district Altlomnitz, which consisted of the rural communities Altlomnitz, Neulomnitz, Aspenau, Glasendorf, Grafenort, Melling, Neubatzdorf, Neuhain , Neuwilmsdorf and Sauerbrunn as well as four manor districts. In 1939 140 inhabitants were counted.

As a result of the Second World War , Glasendorf fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was renamed Szklarka . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . The number of residents subsequently decreased significantly. From 1945 Szklarka belonged to the powiat Bystrzycki, which was dissolved in 1975, as well as the Wrocław Voivodeship, which was responsible until then. 1975-1998 Szklarka belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship (German Waldenburg ).
