Teresa Bock

Teresa Bock (born October 21, 1927 in Viersen / Niederrhein ; † October 15, 2012 in Viersen) was a German social work scientist , professor , author and association official.

Life

Teresa Bock received training as a welfare worker from 1949 . From 1955 to 1957 she worked as a consultant for political education in Bendorf . She was sponsored in the early years by the social politician and " constitution mother " Helene Weber . Between 1960 and 1962 Teresa Bock taught as a lecturer at the Academy for Youth in the Westphalian city of Münster . From 1962 to 1967 she was the director of the higher technical school for social work in Düsseldorf, 1967 to 1970 director of the higher technical school for social work in Aachen and from 1970 to 1977 rector of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia in Cologne with the teaching and research area of ​​social work science and methods of social work.

Services

Teresa Bock was involved in important clubs and associations on a socio-political level . From 1971 to 1995 she was a member of the main committee of the German Association for Public and Private Welfare , the association of public and independent social work agencies in the Federal Republic of Germany , whose recommendations are significantly incorporated into the implementation of German social law . Appointed to the board from 1971–1994 , she acted as deputy chairwoman between 1978 and 1990 and as chairwoman of the German Association from 1990 to 1994. From 1995 she was an honorary member . In addition, she was Vice President of the German Caritas Association from 1972 to 2002 .

The graduate social worker , graduate economist and doctorate in economics and social science ( Dr. rer. Pol. ) Had experience in voluntary and professional association and educational work , teaching and management activities in the training and further education of social workers, social pedagogues and volunteers. As early as the late 1960s, the then Rector Teresa Bock demanded that the method teachers should give supervision to the students during their internship .

Her work focused on practice, teaching and research. She is the author of numerous specialist papers in the areas of social work, social pedagogy and voluntary work, including in the specialist lexicon of social work of the German Association , which was first published in 1980 to mark the 100th anniversary of the German Association.

After the political change in the GDR , she recognized the great need for qualified skilled workers there and was involved in her function as founding rector of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Berlin-Karlshorst , today's Catholic University of Social Sciences Berlin, from 1991 to 1993, in particular for the technical Offspring in East Germany. Teresa Bock died on October 15, 2012 in Viersen.
