The Thalberg nature reserve is located in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 11 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1990 , extends northwest of the local community of Bubenheim . The Selz flows to the east and the state road L 428 runs, while the Welzbach flows to the west .

In the field, the Selzniederung with is an edge region fallow land , the embankments, dry walls , stone heaps , and Steinschutt- Steingrusflächen are interspersed. It also includes vineyards with dry bushes and warm and dry lawn fringes.
