Thomas F. Conway

Thomas Franklin Conway (born May 4, 1862 in Chesterfield , Essex County , New York , † November 9, 1945 in Plattsburgh , Clinton County , New York) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ). He was the son of John Conway and Mary (Collins) Conway.

Career

Thomas Franklin Conway studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1885. Then he moved to Plattsburgh (New York) in 1890. He attended the Democratic National Conventions of 1896, 1904, 1912, 1916, 1920, 1924, 1928, 1932, 1936, 1940 and 1944 as a delegate . In 1898 and 1900 he ran for the office of New York State Attorney General , but was beaten both times by the Republican John C. Davies . Conway was Lieutenant Governor of New York from 1911 to 1912 . Then in 1916 he lost the Senate Democratic primary to William F. McCombs .
