August Tido von Hagen (born October 23, 1785 in Stargard , † July 6, 1858 in Berlin ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

origin

Tido was the son of Sigismund August von Hagen (* September 7, 1748 - September 19, 1813) and his wife Martha Luise, born von Werder (* September 2, 1751 - March 9, 1827). His father was a Prussian major a. D. as well as postmaster and gentleman on Sachsenhagen.

Military career

Hagen came on August 1, 1800, when Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "Langen" the Prussian army and was promoted to mid-March 1806 second lieutenant . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Jena and after retreating to Danzig Hagen took part in the defense of the city . During the storming of the Bousmardschanze he was able to distinguish himself and received the order Pour le Mérite on June 19, 1807 .

On January 17, 1807 Hagen was adjutant in the Grenadier Battalion "von Schmeling". On August 11, 1807 he was then transferred to the 2nd Brandenburg Infantry Regiment . On January 24, 1808 he was aggregated on foot to the Guard Regiment and on April 2, 1808, with a patent dated October 12, 1805, he was classified. There Hagen rose to staff captain by the end of April 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation he was wounded in the Battle of Großgörschen and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. He then fought in the battles near Bautzen , Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig and Laon . Hagen received the Iron Cross 1st Class for Paris and the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class for the battle near Graupen . In the meantime he had been promoted to captain on April 11, 1814 and appointed company commander. On September 9, 1814, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Military Max Joseph Order and on October 2, 1814, Hagen received permission to wear this award.

After the wars he was promoted to major on February 20, 1816 with a patent from February 14, 1816 and at the same time was transferred to Stettin as 2nd Commander in the Guard Landwehr Battalion . On August 1, 1825, he was awarded the service cross . On March 30, 1826, he was transferred to the 2nd Guards Regiment as commander of the 2nd Battalion and on March 30, 1830, with a patent dated April 23, 1830, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . On March 30, 1832 is first charged him with the leadership of the 10th Infantry Regiment and appointed Hagen on 18 January 1833 as commander of this association . In this position, he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1833 with a patent from April 14, 1833, and on September 30, 1835, Hagen was awarded the Order of St. Anne II. On March 30, 1838 he was transferred to Frankfurt (Oder) as commander of the 5th Landwehr Brigade and on April 7, 1838, he was aggregated to the 10th Infantry Regiment. There he rose to major general on March 30, 1840 . With his promotion to lieutenant general , Hagen was appointed commander of Stettin on March 27, 1847 and was awarded the star of the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, on the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service . On 7 June 1856 Hagen received his farewell as general of infantry with the statutory pension . He died on July 6, 1858 in Berlin and was buried on July 9, 1858 in the Invalidenfriedhof .

Hagen married on March 28, 1815 in Potsdam Margarethe Adelheid von Bobers (* November 5, 1794, † December 12, 1877), a daughter of Major Friedrich Wilhelm von Bobers. She was also buried in the Invalidenfriedhof. There are several children from the marriage:
