Tina Walter (born January 1, 1968 ) is a former German long-distance runner , duathlete and triathlete .

Career

In 1996 Tina Walter took part in the Berlin Marathon at the suggestion of a friend , where she finished after 3:11 hours. Her trainer Jochen Frech , who also trained the AST Süßen team in the Triathlon Bundesliga , motivated her to start triathlon and duathlon in 2000. From 2003 on, Tina Walter started as a professional athlete parallel to her studies in sports science. In August 2003 she was fifth at the Duathlon World Championship on the short distance. In 2004 she became German Duathlon Vice-Champion and Duathlon European Champion.

Tina Walter has six children, some of them adult. Since 2005 lives with two sons, the youngest daughter and her partner Andy in Kailua-Kona , Hawaii . Her goal was to be able to prepare specifically for the Ironman Hawaii with this change of residence and so be able to get into the top 3 there. Her best result in Hawaii, where she competed four times, was ninth in 2004.

A few weeks before the Ironman Hawaii 2005, Walter suffered a bicycle accident through no fault of his own. Massive back problems that made it impossible to run quickly after the accident forced her to end her professional career this year. However, she was able to keep her residence in Kona, as she had initially received a two-year athlete visa with the support of her then sponsor Timex and later Timex supported her with the green card applications.

Tina Walter trained as a massage therapist in Hawaii and is now active in this profession as well as a fitness and personal trainer in Kona.
