location

Tucheng is one of the smaller, densely populated districts to the west of New Taipei City and is located on the eastern bank of the Dahan River . Its neighboring districts are Shulin in the west, Banqiao in the north, Zhonghe and Xindian in the east, and Sanxia in the south. Tucheng is connected to the Taipei subway network.

meaning

The area of today's Tucheng was settled by Chinese immigrants from the end of the 18th century. Originally agricultural and characterized by traditional handicrafts, Tucheng changed into an industrial area around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as neighboring Taipei rose to become a major city. In the second half of the 20th century, encouraged by government subsidies, companies from the cutting-edge technology sector began to settle here .
