Sanzhi ( Chinese 三芝區 , Pinyin Sanzhi Qū , PEH OE jī Sam chi Khu , also Sanjhih ) is on the coast of the strait situated area of the city New Taipei City in northern Taiwan .
Location and importance
Sanzhi borders the Taiwan Strait in the northwest, the neighboring districts of Tamsui , Shimen and Jinshan in the southwest, northeast and east , and the Taiwanese capital Taipei in the south . The district is rural and has a comparatively low population density for the city of New Taipei. In addition to agriculture, coastal tourism is an important industry. The main attraction for visitors is the sandy beach of Qianshuiwan .
The southern part of the borough is part of Yangmingshan National Park .
Famous sons of the place are the Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui (1923-2020) and the professor of medicine Tu Tsung-ming (1893-1986).
history
Until 2010, the UFO houses of Sanzhi, built as a holiday complex from 1978 onwards, stood on the coast. They were modeled on the Futuro .
