Tyler Beechey (born June 5, 1981 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Krefeld Penguins in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Beechey started his career in 1997 in the Canadian Junior League WHL and was there for the Edmonton Ice , the Kootenay Ice and the Calgary Hitmen on the ice. Although he showed pleasing performances and could be even more league in his last season top scorer, he was by no team from the National Hockey League drafted .
The winger signed his first professional contract for the 2002/03 season with the Trenton Titans in the East Coast Hockey League , where he played with his ex-teammate Paul Traynor and also came to some appearances in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins . Further stations in the ECHL were the Pensacola Ice Pilots and in the AHL the St. John's Maple Leafs . The 2005/06 season Beechey finally spent completely in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies . At the beginning of the following season, the Canadian played briefly for Manitoba Moose , but switched to EHC Visp in the Swiss National League B in November , where he scored 19 goals and 19 assists in 27 games.
The Iserlohn Roosters signed Beechey in the early stages of the 2007/08 season as a try-out player. After just three days of the test phase, however, the striker was licensed and received an annual contract, which, after convincing performance, was extended early to 2009. While Beechey showed an excellent performance in his first season in an offensive team, he could not build on that in his second season, also due to injuries. The Roosters did not extend his contract, so the striker signed with the Augsburg Panthers in the summer of 2009 . In the summer of 2010 he signed a one-year contract with the DEG Metro Stars after he had previously signed a contract with the Frankfurt Lions, but they did not receive a license in the DEL. After two years in Düsseldorf, Beechey moved to league rivals Straubing Tigers in June 2012 . With the Tigers he missed a large part of the games during the 2012/13 season due to various injuries. In view of his vulnerability to injury and the fact that a different type of player was being sought in his position - the Tigers hired a large, powerful center instead of Eric Beaudoin - the Tigers did not extend Beechey's contract.
On July 31, 2013, the Schwenninger Wild Wings announced the commitment of Beechey, where he signed a one-year contract.
