geography

Uelhof is located southwest of the core town of Attendorn between Listertalsperre and Biggesee . Neighboring towns are Vosssiepen in the south and Weuste in the north.

history

Uelhof was first documented in 1371, when Franco of heroes (around 1332 to 1371 * †) in Arnsberg by Archbishop Friedrich of goods, called " dat ulenhol " invested was. On February 24, 1463 Godert Refflinchusen, Gograf zu Attendorn, agreed with the prior and convent of the Ewig monastery to exchange the so-called Ulenhoel-Hagen near Listernohl for a piece of land located at the “ Hofe tem Ulenhoel ”.

Politically belonged Uelhof formerly the Office Waldenburg and Gogericht and parish Attendorn to peasantry Langenohl , who also surrounding places like Maiwormshammer , Voßsiepen , Wörmge u. a. belonged to. In the treasury register of 1543, a Jacob uf dem Uhlenhole with a tax of 1½ gold guilders is named in the Langenoiler Baurschracht with nine taxpayers . In the 1565 register, Jacob is still taxed at 1½ gold guilders.

At first there was only one large estate in Uelhof, then in the 17th century there were two Kötter estates, of which the uppermost farm was called "Buckenhaus". In 1640 Jobst vom Öhil transferred his feudal righteousness to the court to the Ulhofer heir Peter, son of the late Steffen zum Uhlhofe. In 1706, at the request of the Prior zu Ewig , the gographer Godfrid Bischopinck forbade Joan Peter and Jobst zum Ullhoffe from unauthorized herding in the monastic mountains on the Hohen Hagen and in the Dumicke with a penalty of 10 gold guilders.

The address book from 1929 in Uelhof lists the names "Arens, Becker (4), Stuff (3) and Weber (2)". In 1936 there were 2 houses and 19 residents in Uelhof. The address book from 1956 lists the names "Stuff (2) and Weber (5)". The Weber family ran the inn "Haus Weber" and the Stuff family a guesthouse. At the end of 1988 the place had 17 residents.

From 1819 Uelhof belonged to the Attendorn municipality in the Attendorn-Land municipality , until it was incorporated into the town of Attendorn in 1969.

The Bigge Lister hiking trail (circular hiking trail) leads through the village with a lookout point above the village.
