Vester Åby Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Fyn ( German : Funen ) in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Sallinge Herred in what was then Svendborg Amt , then to Faaborg Municipality in Fyns Amt , which was merged into Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality in the Syddanmark region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

1239 inhabitants live in the parish, 819 of them in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Vester Åby Kirke".

Neighboring municipalities are Åstrup Sogn in the south-west, Diernæs Sogn in the west, Brahetrolleborg Sogn in the north- west and Krarup Sogn in the north , and Hundstrup Sogn and Ulbølle Sogn in the eastern neighboring Svendborg municipality .
