Vojtěch Polák (born June 27, 1985 in Ostrov nad Ohří , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Karlovy Vary from the Czech extra league until April 2020 .

Career

Vojtěch Polák began his career in 2000 with HC Karlovy Vary in the Czech Extraliga , where he played until 2005 with two interruptions when he played a few games for HC Sparta Prague and HC Dukla Jihlava . In 2003 he was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round in 36th place, so that in 2005 he moved to the Iowa Stars , the farm team of the Dallas Stars. He made his NHL debut on October 22, 2005 for the Dallas Stars in a game against the Calgary Flames . In total, Polák played five games in the National Hockey League. During the 2007/08 season he moved back to his home club HC Karlovy Vary. On the 2008/2009 season he signed a contract with HC Oceláři Třinec , with whom he became Czech champions in 2011 . In early September 2011, Polák received a four-week contract from Kloten Flyers . The contract with Vojtěch Polák was later extended by Kloten Flyers until Christmas 2011. Since the contract with the Kloten Flyers was not extended, the SCL Tigers took over the Czech striker from January 1, 2012. With the Emmental, Polák received a contract until the end of the 2011/12 season . He started the 2012/13 season at Piráti Chomutov in the Czech extra league . He moved to his home club HC Energie Karlovy Vary during the season within the league. In February 2013 Polák returned to Switzerland and signed a contract with HC Davos until the end of the season .

In September 2013 he was signed by Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League , but left the club after only nine games. In January 2014 he returned to HC Oceláři Třinec and played for this in the Extraliga until the end of the season. From October 2014 he was under contract with Ilves Tampere in the Finnish Liiga , where he was the team's second best scorer behind Sami Sandell .

International

Polák played for the Czech Republic in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2003 , where he scored three goals and two assists in six games . In 2004 he took part in the U20 World Youth Championship , where he scored one goal in six games.
