The 2019 season of the Volleyball Nations League was the second edition of this competition. It began on May 21, 2019 and ended with the final on July 7, 2019. The United States prevailed against Brazil in the final and successfully defended their title. China came in third. The German team finished tenth after the preliminary round.
mode In the preliminary round, 16 teams competed against each other in four-way tournaments for five weeks. Four tournaments were held in parallel every week. The participants were distributed to the tournaments in such a way that everyone played against everyone during the preliminary round. The results of a total of twenty tournaments were added up in a table. The five best teams in the overall ranking qualified for the final round alongside the host.
In the final round, the participants were divided into two groups of three. The two best teams in each group met each other in the semifinals. The winners of the semi-finals reached the final.
