history
Wölmsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1221 with the name Wenemaresdorf , other place names were later Welmersdorff and Wilmsdorf . The place name is derived from the old German personal name "Wenemar" and indicates original settlers. As early as 1225 the village was bought up by the Zinna monastery . After the secularization of the monastery in 1553, Wölmsdorf belonged to the Luckenwaldeschen Kreis and was thus an exclave of the Duchy of Magdeburg within the Electorate of Saxony , to which all surrounding villages belonged. In 1773 Wölmsdorf became part of the Kurmark , from 1815 the place finally belonged to the province of Brandenburg in the Kingdom of Prussia .
Until 1952, the municipality of Wölmsdorf belonged to the district of Luckenwalde (until 1946 district of Jüterbog-Luckenwalde ). From the GDR district reform, the place belonged to the Jüterbog district in the Potsdam district . On January 1, 1957, Wölmsdorf was incorporated into Niedergörsdorf. Since the German reunification and the Brandenburg district reform in 1993, the place has belonged to the Teltow-Fläming district .
