The park is bounded by the three large housing estates Mümmelmannsberg , Kaltenbergen and Sonnenland, the streets "An der Glinder Au" and "Knivsbergweg" as well as the fields that form the eastern border of Hamburg with Havighorst , a district of the Oststeinbek municipality in the Stormarn district in Schleswig-Holstein , form.

The name "forest park" is misleading, as the park surrounds the lake and thus includes the riparian zones and mostly large meadows and only a small part consists of dense trees . The hall name "Steinfurth" comes from a stone ford that existed here in prehistoric times and has been preserved as a proper name (for example at the Steinfurther Allee underground station ).

The park covers an area of approximately 5.6 hectares .

Furnishing

There are a total of eight playgrounds in the park for children of various sizes and features, on which dogs and ball games are generally prohibited. A water playground existed on the "Kirchnerweg" until 2010 and was dismantled.

There was also a lakeside bar and a small stage from wood for individual, non- commercial use, after repeated vandalism were dismantled in 2012.

The paths are partly paved , partly sand paths .

Legal regulations

According to the Dog Law of 2006, dogs are required to be leashed on the park area except for a signposted area in which dogs who are exempt from the leash obligation may move freely.

The "Steinfurths Diek" is approved for model boats . According to the signs on the bank, fishing is only permitted for members of the registered association "Angelfreunde von 1963" and is otherwise prosecuted by the district as wild fishing.

There are four designated barbecue areas in the park .

There are no opening times ; The park can be used at any time, provided that the regulations on night rest are observed.
