We Are Harlot is an American rock band from Los Angeles , founded in 2011 , organized by Asking Alexandria singer Danny Worsnop and Jeff George, who already worked for Sebastian Bach . The cast also includes Silvertide bassist Brian Weaver and drummer Bruno Agra.

history

2011–2013: foundation

In several interviews Danny Worsnop , lead singer of Asking Alexandria mentioned that he was planning a new project called "Harlot". He said that after touring with Asking Alexandria in 2013, he was planning to tour and produce an album with that band.

The group started three years before these interviews when Worsnop and Jeff George met because they had the same lawyer for some time. After meeting, they both rented an apartment and lived in a shared apartment for some time. Worsnop invited drummer Bruno Agra and they started recording their first demos as a trio. Silvertide's Brian Weaver became the band's bassist after the musicians advertised a vacancy.

2013–2016: Debut album We Are Harlot

At the end of 2013, Danny Worsnop announced that the writing work on the album was as good as finished and that they were looking for a producer who would be willing to move into the studio with the group on December 21, 2013. Artist Direct listed the album in the top 10 long-awaited albums of 2014. In the meantime it became known that the musicians would produce the album themselves and would be supported by Scott Steven, who also worked with Black Veil Brides , Halestorm and Theory of a Deadman . The recordings find at The Fortress in the downtown of Los Angeles instead. The album was released on March 27, 2015. Pre-orders on iTunes have been possible since January 20, 2015. An earlier release of the album was not possible due to a label change and its legal consequences.

It has been announced that the group will play their first live performance at Rock on the Range at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus , Ohio on May 18, 2014 under the name We Are Harlot. In addition, the first single of the debut album will be released in May 2014 and the debut album will appear. The group was founded as "Harlot", but Jeff George assumes that the name will change to "We Are Harlot" due to a possible copyright infringement .

The first single, Denial , was officially released on May 14, 2014 through the British music magazine Kerrang . It was also announced that We Are Harlot have signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records . Immediately after appearing on Rock on the Range, the group was booked to replace Trivium for Rocklahoma in Pryor (near Tulsa ). The group played on Saturday, May 24th 2014 on the “Hard Rock Stage”. On August 18, 2014, Denial was played as an intro for WWE Raw . On September 14, 2014, the group performed at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento , California . In February 2015, the band was announced for the sister festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park . The group has also been announced for the Download Festival at Donington Park ( United Kingdom ) and for the Sonisphere Festival in Milan ( Italy ). In addition, two more singles were released with Dancing on Nails and The One . Dancing on Nails made it into the mainstream rock songs charts , which are determined by the magazine Billboard .

Between April 2, 2015 and May 30, 2015, the group played a full tour of the United States for the first time .

Since 2016: New album

On April 18, 2016, the group announced that the musicians were working on their second studio album.

style

In several interviews it was said that We Are Harlot would be a typical rock band , musically influenced by Aerosmith and Van Halen . The band's music has been described as a “modern recreation of rock music of the 80s”, which “is suitable for fans of the scene as well as for fans of Asking Alexandria's 2013 album From Death to Destiny ”.

In British rock sound it is said that the group sounds like the offspring of Mötley Crüe and Skid Row , who are also influenced by groups like Airbourne and Heaven's Basement .
