history

Village from the northwest
Abraham Church

The Romanesque Church of Abraham , first mentioned in 1351, was probably built around 1275. It was probably donated by noble Abraham zu Weltershausen. The baroque sculptor Josias Wolrat Brützel designed the interior. Since 1969 the church has belonged to the parish of Usseln .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Welleringhausen was merged with four other places on December 31, 1971 to form the new municipality of Upland . This was again powerful state law on 1 January 1974 with the municipality of Willingen for greater community Willingen (Upland) together . Local districts were formed for all former municipalities . Willingen became the seat of the municipal administration.
