Neerdar is a part of the municipality of Willingen (Upland) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Neerdar is located in the western part of northern Hesse in the northeastern foothills of the Rothaargebirge in the mountain region Upland not far from the interface with the Sauerland . It is located in the Diemelsee Nature Park about 8.5 km east of the core town of Willingen and about 10 km west-northwest of the central town of Korbach in northern Hesse (both as the crow flies ). The state border with North Rhine-Westphalia runs a few kilometers south. Around the 443 to 478  m high village are the elevations Bockelau ( 598.8  m ), Eibel ( 558  m ), Sonder ( 582  m ), Grotenberg ( 605.9  m ) and Büh ( 618  m ). Neerdar is traversed roughly in a north-west-south-east direction by the Neerdar , a tributary of the Wild Aa . The federal road 251 runs through between Usseln and Bömighausen .

history

The place is first mentioned in a document in 1244. A Regenhardus de Neyrthere , a citizen of Korbach , is named on July 12th as a witness of the Counts of Waldeck .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Neerdar was merged with four other places on December 31, 1971 to form the new municipality of Upland . This was again powerful state law on 1 January 1974 with the municipality of Willingen for greater community Willingen (Upland) together . Local districts were formed for all former municipalities . Willingen became the seat of the municipal administration.

church

St.Pankratius

The late Romanesque church in the center of the village, dedicated to the ice saint St. Pancras , dates from the 13th century. It has a rectangular nave with a square choir. The oldest walls are made of plastered rubble stones , sandstone and slate with square edges. The north portal and the north choir window are Gothic and date from the time it was built. In 1586 the south wall of the nave was renewed. In 1672 she received a baroque altarpiece, which was created by the Waldeck artist Josias Wolrat Brützel and which depicts The Last Judgment . (The signature of Meister Josias Wolrat Brützel on December 9th, 1692, is on the back of the altar )
