Westerholt is a municipality and at the same time the administrative seat of the integrated municipality Holtriem in the Wittmund district in Lower Saxony .
history
The first human settlements are dated to the Neolithic based on archaeological finds . The emergence of standing in the center church is estimated for the period 1250-1270, the first documentary mention Westerholt in 1420 is stating the church context.

Economy and Infrastructure
In economic terms, the municipality is characterized by small trade, service and handicraft businesses, tourism and agriculture. Branches of various, larger supermarket chains have been established in recent years. In addition to the primary school, which has a school kindergarten and a special primary school, there is also a high school in the school center.
