Publications
The single THE (The Hardest Ever) , which was released on iTunes on November 20, 2011 after it was presented at the American Music Awards , was released on January 3, 2012 in Germany. It was created during the recording of #willpower and was released as the first single from the album, but ultimately did not make it onto the album. The song was produced by Audiobot, Dallas Austin, Kenny Oliver and will.i.am themselves.
Great Times , whose remix Great Times Are Coming came on the album, was released as a single in Brazil in November 2011.
The single This Is Love (feat. Eva Simons) was planned as the second single and then became the first to actually appear from the album. It was available from June 2012.
reception
The criticism of Sven Kabelitz from the German music portal laut.de is devastating, and there are numerous negative superlatives in his reviews: "This labbed duddle from the Black Eyed Peas shoots the musical bird with '#willpower'.", "Zopfiger is doing it no more. ”or“ '#willpower' should easily pass as one of the most miserable releases ever. ”The lyrics, the arrangements, the cover and even the undefined basses are heavily criticized. Kabelitz even describes the numerous guest musicians as "a considerable group of musical illiterates."
Fred Thomas from the American music portal Allmusic also criticized the album heavily. He describes the lyrics as "mindless lyrical clichés" (soulless text clichés) and insinuates that the interpreter has not put much heart into the album ("his heart isn't in it throughout the record").
