The place was founded in the time of the order . In 1874 the village was incorporated into the newly established district of Zimmerbude (today in Russian: Swetly) in the Fischhausen district (1939 to 1945 Samland district ) in the Königsberg district in the Prussian province of East Prussia . As early as 1882 Marschenen was reclassified to the district of Kondehnen (Russian: Slawjanskoje, no longer eixtent), which in 1931 was renamed "District of Groß Blumenau " (Kremnjowo). In 1910 the Marschenen had 114 inhabitants.

On October 17, 1928, Marschenen gave up its independence and merged with the neighboring town of Widitten (Russian: Ischewskoje) to form the new rural community of Widitten.

In 1945 Marschenen came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and in 1947 received the Russian name "Volotschajewskoje". At the same time, the place was classified in the village soviet Vsmorjewski selski Sowet in Primorsk Raion . Since 1954 the place belonged to the Logwinski selski Sowet and in 1963 it became the seat of a village soviet in Guryevsk Rajon . In 1991 the still existing places of the village soviet were spun off from Guryevsk Rajon and placed under the administration of the city of Svetly .
