At the World Games 2013 in Cali , two squash competitions took place from August 2nd to 4th . A total of 40 athletes from 19 countries took part in the competitions, 21 of them in the men's and 19 in the women's competition. Simon Rösner , Raphael Kandra and Franziska Hennes from Germany took part, participants from other German-speaking countries did not start.
In the women's category, the top seeded world number one Nicol David defended her title from 2009 without losing a set . In the new edition of the final of 2009, she defeated Natalie Grinham again . Bronze went to French woman Camille Serme . In the men's category, too, the top seeded player, the French Grégory Gaultier, prevailed. With his victory he won the first gold medal in squash for France at the World Games. In the final he defeated Simon Rösner from Germany, who was able to prevail in the semifinals against the second-placed Englishman Peter Barker .
